Johnny Hart was born on February 18, 1931 in Endicott, New York, USA as John Lewis Hart. He was a writer and actor, known for The Wizard of Id (1969), BC's Quest for Tires (1983) and Curiosity Shop (1971). He was married to Bobby Hart. He died on April 7, 2007 in Nineveh, New York.

Served in the U.S. Air Force and drew cartoons for Pacific Stars and Stripes.

Drew his character BC holding a hockey stick and riding an over-sized hockey puck for the British Columbia Junior Hockey League, which became the league's logo for a time (BCJHL).
