Hugh McIlvanney was born on February 2, 1934 in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland. He was a writer, known for The Year of Sir Ivor (1969), Ali's Dozen (2006) and This Week (1956). He was married to Caroline North, Sarah Kenmuir and Sophie. He died on January 24, 2019 in Scotland.

早年经历

Sportswriter he was inducted into both the International Boxing Hall of Fame (2009) and the Scottish Football Hall of Fame (2011). He is the brother of William McIlvanney.
