In 48 hours, best friends Carlos and Leo will finally play the first show of their teenage lives, opening for local legend Ramona Casas—if they can convince anyone at their high school to show up for it. Kill Yr Idols inspired by the real life stories of bands living in the border town of Rio Grande Valley in S. Texas. A punk rock coming-of-age film about two Latinx best friends trying to play their first show as a band, a quest that is complicated by the fact that one of them is undocumented and the other has crippling stage fright. They have less than 48 hours to create a fan base and figure out what their sound is. In the process, they go about discovering their own culture and metaphorically “killing” their whitewashed brit punk idols.
